Children's International Education Center
(CIEC)
The CIEC (Children’s International Education Center) was established in 1981 due to the vision of Maycie K. Southall to increase global understanding and enrich the lives of children.
The goals of CIEC are:
- To give children hands-on experience with materials from other cultures
- To enrich children’s lives
- To help children understand cultures and customs of other nations
The centers have multicultural materials including books, music, artifacts, and language tapes. The centers are housed in public libraries.
Currently there are 3 active centers in Tennessee. The Martin CIEC was established in 1989. The Nashville Center was reinstated in November 2005. The Upper East Tennessee Center was established in 2006 in Blountville.
All centers have contact representative that are Delta Kappa Gamma members. The centers depend, in part, on chapter and member contributions to provide service to their communities.
Our current Centers need your help! Please consider making a donation to CIEC using the Contributions form.
