On Saturday, May 3, 2008, over 50 Xi State members representing 7 of the 9 chapters that comprise Area II gathered at Harrison's Restaurant in Clinton for the Pi Chapter Founders' Day Luncheon. Special guests included Xi State President Nancy Davis and Second Vice-President Beverly Smith from Mountain City and Chattanooga, respectively, as well as Area II Director Pam Jefferies and Xi State Webmaster Judy Cross.
The theme of the luncheon was "Look to the Rainbow," and Pi Chapter President Chris Simons welcomed the group. Bobbye Pointer shared a touching inspiration and Cathy Leihkauff sang "A World of Difference," reminding us that "we all have a purpose and a special place to serve, for it takes a world of differences to make a difference in our world."
Xi State President Nancy Davis began her remarks with the song "Climb Every Mountain." She challenged those in attendance to act as encouragers to new chapter leaders as they agree to new and sometimes overwhelming responsibilities for the 2008-2010 biennium. She also reminded more established members to climb outside their comfort zones and take risks personally and as a chapter. "Do it afraid" were her instructions and she concluded by singing "You Raise Me Up."
A moving tribute to our Founders was a highlight of the program. Beverly Smith lit a candle for each of the Founders as Pi Chapter members Paula Campbell and Michelle Shory shared something about each Founder's life. Concluding the program the newly elected Pi chapter officers were installed for the 2008-2010 biennium.
Thanks to Pi Chapter for being such gracious hostesses and for a delightful luncheon and program!
